    ill bite,
its not walking on a wheel, we dont get answers at all. with each piece we get only more questions. each question is another possible clue
each clue solved only provides more questions

we have never received an answer that was not accompanied by more questions
its why we live. to learn and to eat twinky's
    but mostly to learn.

by the way is that you or someone your reading?
cause if its someone your reading then i feel stupid now for having asked the question

But that still doesn't solve the answers to questions we have conceived.

    It's me.......it's just a stray thought. (ironically)

    exactly,
if an answer only ever gives us more questions then we will never get to the end
thats the fun of it, the reason to play the game. there is simply no end.

mind you there is a simplistic resining that has to be set aside to even have this conversation
that is, that 1+1=2. there is your question with a solid answer to end with. there is no more questions
having said that, im not talking about things that simple

in stead of such reasoned simple arguments, im saying that the one you pose, why do we think is much greater than can be solved.

a dog can think. i have taught my dog to stop on the command "stop". not very complicated.
but when i say stop, he has learned to do just that. I say it, he thinks about it and then he does it.
he doesn't have to, in the beginning he chose not to, then he learned that if he did stop he wouldn't flop over.
im assuming he never made the connection between the rope around his neck and the flopping over part
he simply thought about it and decided, i prefer obeying in place of flopping over.
    dogs think.

but humans think far more, far deeper, far more complex, i doubt my dog lays in his bed and thinks... why bark.
so in your endless question let me ask
are we trying to decide why we think, or are we trying to decide why we think so much more complex than any other species?
    ill wait for your reply

Somewhat my point really.........if thinking is just a game then we are getting nothing from it but amusement......so what is the worth of it?

P.S. dogs don't think in the way we think.........they are conditioned to do things.

My question was.......what is the value of our greater thought.......let's count basic thought as everything needed to get through a basic day.....i.e. I know if I jump off a cliff I'll die........I know I need to eat and drink....etc.

What do we really get out of thinking more than this.....is it mere amusement or does it actually seek to elevate us..... cosmologically.

now we have a two parter then. perfect

    first with the last
dogs can think, conditioned is one thing, ability to solve problems is thinking
to that point - the breed of dog i have, without any "conditioning" as you call it, or any form of education (I assure you of that fact) open cabinets, refrigerators, and even jars if given enough time and a weak enough lid. they would try, fail and try again until it works, once they sort how it works you better have a solution or they will do it over an over. they LEARN how to do it by solving the problem themselves. that is a dog, they think. my dog was never conditioned to open the gate that lead into the kitchen, it has a latch that holds the gate shut, no matter... time and again i would find him with his ass sticking out of the trash can. He taught himself how to open the gate (it was very ingenuous really, he would grab the bottom with his paw and shack it till the latch fell open) animals all think, the learn and they modify to accommodate. they just dont think as complexly as us.

why... hmmm i know what happend does that help
someone once asked a question, it was like

"why do we stick to this dirt instead of floating up?"

or something along those lines. well his friend and him started working on that and maybe they came up with an answer to one of the small problem relevant to dirt sticking, like does all the balls in space have magnetic super powers, but that simply produced more questions, so they set about solving those problems in hopes to sort why we stick to the dirt. as of today that guys question is still being asked, debated, dissected and learned about. with each step closer we get a bunch more questions. some relevant to dirt sticking and some not. Some of the guys take the dirt sticking ones and keep going, but others take the ones that were not part of that equation and go with them, in the end we have hundreds of games all being played from one single question asked so long ago. this game has transcended generations with each one handing of what they have learned to the next so they can inch ever closer, creating more questions with each answer and more people trying to solve the questions

so its not us asking the questions really
well we did ask why do we stick to the dirt.. but its the questions that pull us in, and the desire to solve them that keeps us in, and the want to know that makes us pursue the new ones.

    hows that?

thought i would put this in to the discussion
this dog knows it cant open the door while its holding the blanket. so it waits
then gets rejected, in turn sorts how to open the door with the blanket

he didnt teach the dog to use the pull he installed, he simply put that there and the dog sorted it

ive seen both my dogs use the same technique, (much to my disappointment) time and again.

    1 + 1 = 2

    Any questions?
That's not ironic, it's coincidental in it's contrary nature to the topic at hand. Irony is something else entirely.

No, he's just rude. Like so many people his age, he lacks social etiquette or has convinced himself it doesn't apply to the internet.

    That would be fun.
Everyone started making fun of me for being uptight. The sarcasm on display by yay, furby and Jack became thick as molasses so I let it go.

    by the way
as a note, your about the most UN-uptight person ive met ever
nothing seems to rattle or send you off, you just roll with it.
so again i say, thats ironic .

if i recall its that very quality you possess that i begged you to teach me, and you accepted stating only that i was to "not give a shit"
ive tried, but apparently im way to uptight and worried for that sort of gig.
