I had a lot of that, especially in my younger years.....I learned to deal with it and not let them get to me.....now I have learned to completely let it all go. Almost a stress free life now.....after all, I am still married!

 

That's kinda how I feel about Las Vegas now.

Been here 18 years. It's most definitely lost it's charm.

 

I can't begin to list all my different positions and job titles.....probably the three I held the longest were supervising engineer, City Engineer, and Public Works Director....

 

I have been in this university town all my life.......have been thinking about leaving, pros and cons. I live in the highest property tax county in the State of Florida now...:shock:

 

i couldn't finger out what to watch, so i'm watching family guy on tbs and maybe switch to hockey to catch the score

 

I got an uncle who came to KC chasing his future wife off the farm. He got a job with Hallmark, stayed there all his life. Only job he ever had, except the farm growing up.

 

He and my aunt have their 75 wedding anniversary next year I think

 

it was a small company , salesman started it with friends and family 30 yrs ago. tried selling it to one of our suppliers, they didn't want it because we don't cut corners.

so the owner is moving things more 'twards corporate and farther from small business. bringing in management types from outside the company.
too many managers and not enough workers.

 

Damn I hate that shit HC. Happenin all over ever where these days.

I miss the water. I may visit FL in the near future to see what my brother has been up to in Punta Gorda all these years. Uncle Scribbles needs to find a beach.

It's always good to have goals.

That's fantasic! My folks celebrated their 68th this past Feb. I hope they make it to 75, would be cool.

 

Wants to go bankrupt I guess. :?

 

I had to work for some real ass holes along the way.......they got fired and I survived them. I always tried to remember those times when I became a manager/director as I was well aware that I could only be as good as the those working with me allowed me to be. I had to fire some folks along the way......had several apologize to me for placing me in the situation where I had no choice but to fire them.....work very hard to find positions for good folks when budget cuts were required......only ended up letting one go in all those years and that was his fault.

 

I cannot imagine being more than an hour and a half drive from a warm beach! Living in the mid-west would be very strange for me.

 

@ Scribe: the spring break season is incredible on any of Florida's public beaches.....we have a few miles of those too! And unlike California, our beach water is not friggin cold in the summer time! :yes_new:

 

It's never easy being the responsible one. Sounds like you did a good job of it though.

I'm an hour from the Pacific by air. Not close enough.

Spring Break in FL would be an interesting experience I bet.

Not all beaches in So Cal are cold. In fact, water temps at beaches only a few miles apart can vary widely. That's been my experience between San Diego and Santa Barbara. The Channel Islands create all manner of confusing currents so you never know. SD is on the whole where you'll find the warmest water though.

 

Hell, I've fired 6 this year already. :/

I've lived several places ocean side in FL, it's fun sometimes and a misery others.

Keys waters are fantastic without a doubt, can get pretty hot in the summer tho.
