now ive thought, and i have to ask you a question
are you rich?

 

You are taking away the basic motivation to work and succeed......why would you go ahead in your career if you knew that there was no chance of you really being rich.........and the government would basically take it away.

 

I wish.

 

ive decided to pull down some Frank Sinatra for tomorrow. found the rat packs Christmas album.

 

It'a a lost cause it what it is.

They did pay for it to be that way.

No it's not. No one is promoting communism or socialism here. They just want the over-privileged upper class to pay their fair share and stop turning the middle class into the financially challenged working class.

 

ok right got that. if i take all there money i have done a bad thing.

so how do you get them to spend the money. right now, they are sort of holding on to it.
and if they dont spend it, i cant get any of it.

well you were defending them, i thought maybe you were.

 

i hate that statement becouse it slanders all the people that actually had to live under communism
communism is when the state possesses everything and nothing can ever be gained beyond what you have.
unless you move upward in the burocrisy (sp) then you get higher pay i guess.

what im saying is like, make them pay the same percentage as i pay. that would work fine for me.


i know youve heard me tell this before, but....
rupert mudocks news corp here in America made 5 billion dollars over the last 5 years
becouse of tax shelters, he received 6 billion in tax rebates from America. that makes it an 11 billion dollar company.
hmm, yea, i dont want that to ever happen again.

Right. The Occupy movement is more about corporations than individuals anyway.

I think that's communism........if you're asking person people to pay extra........I'm okay with asking corporations to pay extra.

 

like against them right?
they want corporations to have less ability to make there own rules up they intend to break?

It's not that simple Jack. There's a taxation inequity at work here where people with less are expected to contribute a higher percentage than those who have more and can more easily afford to pay. You should also take into consideration that on the whole the USA has a more lenient taxation rate than most other industrialized nations. People of comparable wealth in Britain, e.g., pay a much higher rate than those in the US. And corporations are pretty much getting away with murder through tax shelters and offshore incorporations, which are nothing more than a tax dodge. It's all very complicated and convoluted. By design.

That's one way of looking at it, yeah.

 

Okay, I honestly don't understand economy that well.....so I might be wrong.

 

You're not alone. 30 years as an adult and I'm still baffled by much of it.

 

I hate it to a large extent.....it's so human....if you know what I mean....things like science and philosophy seem natural where as all of commerce is so human (for lack of a better word).

 

They're all part of the greater whole. Just because you put a greater value on science and philosophy doesn't mean you should discount what is perhaps man's greatest motivator. Do so at your own peril. Everything that moves this world forward is about money in some context.

 

I didn't say they were of lesser importance.....I said they were more man made than "natural".

 

Get real. Wheeling and dealing is far more in our nature than lofty intellectual pursuits. At some point all of us may look to the heavens and wonder 'why am I here?' But it will just as soon be dismissed by the notion of 'how do I get that for less?' Or, 'how do I get what he's got?' That's human nature.
