No....I try animate myself for the benefit of others.....but with my mom I'm like that.....just staring into space while she continues the one way conversation......it annoys her as well.......but I am listening.

 

Oh, that's normal. My Mama tends to go on and on as well. And asking the same question several times.

 

No she doesn't go on...she's just talking.

 

My mom is getting old. She keeps dwelling on her childhood lately, telling me the same stories over and over. Sometimes she calls me by her sister's name. Sometimes even by my father's.

 

My mom keeps forgetting things....sometimes words etc...she laughs it off....but I find it troubling.

 

Me too. The other day she went through literally every name in the family, including that of her cat, until she remembered mine.

 

That is worrying......have you thought about taking her for a check up?

 

I still write it off as her usual absent-mindedness.

 

She goes regularly for check-ups ever since she fell off a table and hurt her shoulder, yet didn't see a doctor until weeks later and it turned out her shoulder was broken.

 

How old is she? if I may ask.

 

67. I think.
Yes, she turned 67 this year.

 

Doesn't like doctors?

Or one of those who just constantly says "I'm fine, I'm fine" ?

 

Sounds like an early onset of alzheimer's, for both really.

Little bit of both, I guess. Always the humble type, don't bother, don't mind me, I'm fine, really, no trouble at all etc.
But she takes her health much more seriously than she used to do.
