    It's actually a woman. Called Cate Shortland. She made a movie called "Somersault" in 2004 which won a few prizes, apparently. The movie she shoots here is set in WW2.

    No, it's about two kids whose mother deserts them in 1945 when their father, a high ranked Nazi, is arrested or disappears or something, and the kids have to make it to their grandmother on their own.
