well the wife was sick when i left today, had to help the boy move back home from collage, and the baby was a gem all weekend. all in all this wasnt that bad


except i have to be here now

Well this isn't exactly that.....he (Connor Oberst) loves adding things to his songs, a lot of his albums begin with an original prose piece, or oddly contain an background voice reading something......in this it really seems like a whole medley of stuff including a message left on his answering machine.

good good, i was wondering if youve ever written like some short story or longer at any point?

actully i was at the local fair uptown, my son pointed at the sky and said the following
"see that cloud, its a shelf cloud, we need to get out of here now!"
then we saw the girl that used to live with us, she had a baby in tow,
here is the back story on that,
she was at the fair about noonish, some girl she works with wandered up to her and said, can you watch him, (she thought for just a moment while she went to the toilet or something) so she said yes, the girl went to work. she left without provided any info on the kid, his name or shoes. we earlier had gone up and gave the girl that was living with us shoes for him that used to fit our baby. when the storm broke we found her screaming on her cell phone at some guy that was supposed to be her boyfriend, the little kid holding her hand. "its my birthday" she screamed "and you left me for a fucking whore, ive been standing here waiting while you talk to that whore, you need to get your fucking ass over here". my wife inturupted that to say she could come to our house with the kid. we thought just to get the kid out of the rain. she finished screaming at the man, who had now walked up, about 6 foot covered in tats and mean looking. her normal type. she said something then came to our car and climbed in. "mikel" that was the creeps name "needs a ride as well and a place to stay" she explained, i kindly retored, nice, he should go find one, we dont have room.
the story goes on, we delivered the kid to the mother his name was kayden and he was just an awesome tyke. his mom was hot as hell but dumb as a fucking rock. the girl that used to live with use left the house shortly after i told her she could stay, that monster boyfriend of hers could not. she went to the next door house, our babysitters, they have been helping and feeding her, but they were at the hospital as he is down ill and they will be there for a few more days, so no reprieve for her there, so she stood in there door way.
thats where i found her and explained for her to come to our house and get out of the rain. she refused. Mikal was supposed to come get her. he did, she left in a huge 4x4 truck with about 5 guys hooping and hollering.

i felt so awful for her. i just want to help her and she refuses it every time. her stubborn kicks her ass over and over.
