I think people have a fundamental inhibition about not knowing the answer to something.....I mean after all that's why Gods and deities came about .....because people wanted an explanation for the things happening around them....which they at the time did not understand.

The Big Bang theory was first suggested by a preist who was also into physics and astronomy. They know that the universe is expanding, which suggests it had a starting point. That's simple supposition really. The big question now is how many universes are their (quantum physics and string theory)?

 

thats true, i will never say i have any idea about why or how the universe got here, i very much respect the scientists who try to figure it out, but i doubt they would say many of their current theories are absolutely right, but i also respect someone who can QUIETLY have strong faith in something

I just read this somewhere and it made me laugh.

 

Because to have the conversation science v religion, you have to think of them as overalls. not specifics.

point, its imposable to argue science v religion if your only going to take Guss Smiths point of view that is... he as a rule does not by into religion except when he is hung over.

so to have the argument, one must average out he thought then say ok this is the average theory in each camp, ... fight.

so in this case i would say its imposable to even have the discussion without a common understanding that the two sides will be divided into generalizations and go from there.

 

when you get into that stuff, for the vast majority of people it is simply faith in the scientists

the universe being infinite(or expanding infinitely) and multiple or infinite universes has kept me up more then on night

 

I always leave room for doubt.

 

God created everything in 7 days vs. nothing exploded and created everything
