have you ever noticed how as one grows the other, lashing out on a regular bases continues to grow as well. for example, science says that life is 30 thousand years old minimum. and the church says, a year in the bible is more like 500 years today. its not the same.

i am religious but i am also not going to turn my back to science and its findings. some of its findings in fact lie within what they call "divine intervention" becouse they simply cant currently fill in the gaps.

I think there is a great lack of understanding between the both............ religious people are rather reluctant to accept the unrealistic side of religious beliefs and the scientists are so frustrated with this that they overlook or under-categorize the genius of the Bible (be it factual or otherwise).

ive always found it interesting that people who say they dont have faith in things, they just believe in the fact, seem to have complete faith in the scientists giving them these facts, very few actually have done any experiments to actually know themselves

personally i dont have a deep faith in religion, nor do i believe science has anywhere near all the answers

Blind belief in anything is stupid, including science.

But again if you didn't believe in previous scientific experiments and deductions then every generation would be doing the same basic thing over and over again in order to prove it for themselves.

Science doesn't claim to have all the answer, it only seeks to find them......religion has all the answers.....or one answer at least "God did it".

but most people have no basic knowledge in the science of how the universe and the Earth came to be, scientist study past experiments and have exensive knowledge of what was done before them, they dont just look at the results and call it good enough, and they are always going back and trying to disprove past theory that had been accepted as fact

and thats true about science not having all the answers, what irritates me is the people who act like it does, and that they know for a fact there is nothing that science has yet to explain. I have the same issue with religious nuts who act as though they know without a doubt that the bible is 100% accurate

my thought was more a comment on the common person talking about science vs religion, not the scientific community itself

Ah so hat your saying is hat nobody should blindly believe something just because it's put forth by a scientist.....that's absolutely true, everybody should think and deduce for themselves!

Anybody who says science has all the answers or religion has all the answers or goes about discrediting either one......is not worth debating with.

This might be really crude to say....but common people only think what they are told to think....either by religion or government or society, they rarely think for themselves.

How do reduce something so complex, and moreover, why?
People can more easily take the word of science because there is empirical data, testing and experimentation to back up what is being positted. Science just doesn't claim the world is round and then hope you assume they've told the truth. People sailed around the motherfucker, that's how they know. Science is from the Latin word sciencia, meaning knowledge. Faith is derived from the Latin word fides, meaning trust.

Anyone seen Conan The Barbarian lately?

I've always wondered - why does Thulsa Doom (James Earl Jones) turn into a large snake in the later portion of the film? :33:

    Afternoon all :hi:

most people dont bother thinking about things beyond what immediately effects them, my mind is always wandering, my life isnt interesting enough on its own to keep me occupied all the time:D

the earth being round and the creation of the universe are two different things, there are scientists still trying to figure out how the universe began, and while the big bang is the current accepted theory, to use it as the be all end all fact that is supposed to shut up any religious person seems crazy
