id say its pretty powerful thinking if a man who had been living on the street for 11 years was content with his life because of that type of thinking, assuming he was content, i just got that idea from the little bit scribe wrote

 

I'm not a pessimist, most people think I am because I largely believe in nihilism...but I'm not, I just have no need for things like Karma and faith, I can function without them (most of the time) and I wasn't criticizing Karma, merely pointing out it's improbability.

 

It is, not easy in that situation to keep positive.

 

I am slowly changing.

 

He was at that. He never asked anyone for anything. He didn't sit on the pedestrian bridges and panhandle either. I gave him a bunch of shirts I had no use for after I lost weight. He was bigger than me so they fit him fine. We'd sit and drink and shoot the shit from time to time. He was kind of elusive so I didn't see him all that often but I think he was a good man. He had some issues, as do we all, but I'm not gonna speak ill of the dead.

in many ways, if you can do without, i could see some definite advantages in his life, especially with a nihilistic outlook, no job, no bills, as long as your not starving, which i dont think many homeless are in major cities, you can live your life free of the constraints of normal society, just do what you want when you want as long as it doesnt require much money

No, you're spot on. There's a definite liberty he enjoyed that most of us don't. The only other way to acheive it is if you're filthy rich. Again, yin and yang.
