Some when he was a kid. She was actually a 1st generation American but was fluent in German. I used to hear her chatting on the phone with her sister in both German and English right up until she died. She was 93, born in the early 1890's.

 

My roomie had to work overtime tonight but should be home soon. I'm gonna fix her some supper so she doesn't have to worry about it. I'll return in awhile....

Well, except for the noises in the middle of the night when you come home drunk and crash into the furniture.

 

My dad served in the army signal corp out in the Pacific but not until 1945 when the war was already over. Lucky him. I was 22 when my gma passed away. Never really got the chance to talk in depth with her about life and stuff. My loss.

I seldom do that anymore, got the place pretty well memorized. I do occasionally step on the dog but that's her fault for rushing up and greeting me in the dark when I come staggering thru the door.

 

Was a real scortcher today, hit a high of 106F/41C. Here it is midnight and it's still 94F/34C. God I love this weather.

 

Lord, that's crazy hot... it got to 80F today in the city and that was pretty warm for me. :scared1:

I've grown used to it here. You make allowances for it by mega-hydrating and avoiding hanging out in the sunshine for prolonged periods. When it's that hot here it's also so dry that it can fool you into a false sense of it's real danger. 115 can fuck you up bad if you're not careful.

Central air fried it's circuit breaker. Rummaged around for nearly an hour looking for our extras before I found a replacement. All pent up now. :?

 

ugh... in Las Vegas with no AC is like being in a desert without water.

Wasn't really worried about the heat. I got aggravated cuz I couldn't find something that should always be close at hand. Fixed that.
