I didn't mean atheists were loners but using atheism as a common interest and starting up atheist social gatherings seems oxymoronic to me.

im going to go ahead and agree here, in that i cannot see how the ceremony would commence, im going to take scribes thought, "people of like minds gather" and push that into reality lets set then in a room, coffee pot, some folding chairs, one of those podiums for speaking. men and women swagger in, coats being hung and chairs being filled. now the scene is set. and i ask, what is the first order of business. "lets all agree there is no god" done. everybody gets up and leaves. i mean are they going to sit around and decide the degree in which he does not exist, or rather share evidence to back up the non existence. i just dont see any common ground beyond that very small point they share.

wait, no i take that back, i think we call that a science convention.

well i think its like im listening to music that was listened to by people who are long long sense dead. yet, i still hear the same notes, the same sound if played right that they heard. its as if in a time machine, i can say at this moment the music playing for me played on the earth long long ago.

just like the rolling stones.

 

i dono i think that people would have something more to talk about. what stitch are you using might be a conversational topic

Why are you assuming they only have one topic of discussion? Why couldn't they be plotting the downfall of organzed religion, or ways to loot the Vatican, Or who truly serves the tasty cup of coffee: Starbucks or Seattle's Best?
