    They try to wear down the stigma of mental disorders here by showing a lot of reports/documentaries about patients on TV. They do talk about the horrible details as well. It is very brave, but not for everyone.

    Here they don't do a thing....the local tv shows have some "crazy" characters that end up being tied to the bed and get electrocuted while the poor family grieves.

    Very olden thinking.

    The sad thing here is, whenever a mentally ill person does something truly horrific it's all over the papers. For example, one or two years ago a woman suffering from psychosis murdered her children. She was truly sick and got no help, was completely left alone with caring for her kids and no one noticed she was getting a bit weird. Or if anyone noticed, they just let it slip. Not my business, you know how people are. So this story was all over the media and of course it makes people become scared of any kind of mental illness. "That person is crazy - they might kill me!!"

    Well this is as bad.....

    There have been a few cases in the rural parts of crazy people being locked in cages by their families.....and in one instance a man locked his wife and daughter in a room for 7 years I think it was......it wasn't in any papers that I know off and even if it was I doubt anybody would really care.
