Your welcome blackthorne16, it is quite thick, but there are amazing things in there. It was the first novel of that size I have ever read (being all ADD and such) it took a while to read, and it was worth it. When you are done book, (or before it, your choice...) I recommend you watch the movie with the same name. It is EXACTLY the way Rand wanted it. Her producers tried to get her to change it and she walked off the set lol. She is a very strong minded woman. The movie only excludes secondary information, ALL of the primary information is included (AFAIK) and it is exactly the same as in the book.

    Cheers!

Not sure I would call myself a deist, but I do tend to agree with Jammsbro! It is difficult to look around at nature (or people) or to look up into the night sky and think "naw, it's all an big accident". There seems to be some design to it, flawed as it may sometimes appear in execution.

Then I make my brain hurt by asking myself "if there is a creator, bigger than all I can see in the universe, where does he/she exist?" When we finally discover the "end" of the universe, will it be the wall of our fishbowl?

Brain ache usually means confusion when I have it. I solve that by reading the basics of the subject matter that is causing the confusion, or by going for a walk.

I suggest you check this out; it's about what scientists know about one of the very first living organisms.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanobacteria

I think that the universe is effectively infinite, I see little reason to worry if we will "run out" of universe.

I do not think nature or the cosmos as an accident at all, it's an accumulation of events. I see them as a system that has taken a very long time to change, and they get better and faster at making systems that are successful. In nature, man is a recent animal, and it is also one of the most adaptable. I see that humans are amazingly complex and intelligent animals (some more than others ;) )

Evolution is much like trying to pick up girls, many attempts may not go where I wanted them to, but a some of those worked out *very well indeed*

I think that the intelligence that created the universe did so from itself. Meaning that it used itself to become the universe.

I'm surprised to learn you believe in some kind of creator (and impressed) i had you down as a pure atheist. I pretty much agree with you.

i would suggest you do a bit of research into derren brown tho, he is just a show man and a magician, he has no psychological powers people want to believe him that's all.

thanks for all the vids! keep them comming

Na, total Deist. I tend to side with atheists more than theists though as they are usually smarter, more open minded and generally better people. Usually.

You misread me about Derren Brown, that is what i was saying. Solok mentioned that the tarot reader knew things about him that were amazing and Derren showed that these fraudulent techniques were very easy to mimic with astonishing accuracy. He's brilliant and i lvoe watching him.

I see that the "intelligence" some people speak about reminds me of the law of nature (Ex gravity, chemistry, matter, energy etc.) - something that uses itself to make other things happen

The tarot card reader might have been "sizing me up" so to speak. It was about 8 years ago, so the memories a bit fuzzy on the particulars

I like that he is open about it. It's one of his most endearing qualities. I also think he tells people that it isn't magic because he knows that they won't believe that.

Solok, I used to work with a group of women that regularly went to a pal reader and he was able to tell them some creepy, creepy stuff. Their techniques are very clever. But then again, I'm not against saying that amongst all the millions of frauds there aren't one or two who can actually perform such feats.

Card readers and similar would have to prove it under reasonable test conditions for me to believe it which no one has as far as i know.

This is an interesting video if you can excuse the fact its a cartoon and a little basic

well it would be but i cant seem to embed it, i am copying the code but no luck!? Ill go work out how to do it and come back

when you get down to quantum mechanics you get even more questions and for me the suggestion that it cant be pure science driving this thing..........well not as we know it anyway

Maaan. My friend and I talk physics every day and just before christmas we had a short talk about how neither of us can read or listen to any more about the double slit experiment. When you first hear of it, it's amazing. But after hearing the stories and research for the thirtieth time it drives me nuts :)

Hmm, that's an odd one with the double slit. It reminds me of when I start my first day of work... Everything is going well until my boss sticks his/her nose into what I am doing and then he/she starts following me around talking about stuff that has nothing to do with my current task(s), I can get sidetracked with the unrelated and sometimes make mistakes.

Maybe the double slit is something like that lol

i like it because it throws philosophy back into science.

    Nice motivational poster!

I'm a big believer in physics and philosophy. I mean that in the way that i think both should be studied side by side and not as separate sciences.

Who does the Dr Quantum stuff mofo? I remember a friend telling me about him before. IS it fred allan wolf?
