for sure Mile, you know there are Friends here.

 

Here some info about German Christmas:

We open our presents on the night of the 24th, on the Holy Eve. On that day, there's no big meal. Most families have a light dinner, consisting of potato salad and sausages. On the 25th, the big meal takes place. Roasted duck or turkey are tradition. We have a second Christmas holiday, the 26th. That's when most families visit with other members of the family. I usually skip that part and am home again on the night of the 25th.

I didn't' know that.

 

When I was little we used to attend the Holy Eve mass, too. The biggest fun was to walk the quiet streets and look into the windows of the houses at other people's Christmas trees.

 

When we are family, can I be the crazy unmarried aunt with 30 cats who smells a bit funny?

 

Sure...except for the smell part

 

I'm thinking of attending mass this year.....purely out of curiosity.....but the closest church is about 30 minutes from my house.....might end up being late if I go for mid night mass.

 

It's very festive, Jack. Christmas hymns etc. Although I always liked the snow and the Christmas lights everywhere much more than the actual religious part.

Makes me think of the crazy old aunt in Christmas Vacation who wrapped her cat as a present.

They don't have the lights and stuff here...just a few here and there in the big stores.
