Labeling Celeb Threads - Image Quality

When did it become appropriate to use the phrase 'not HQ' in place of LQ or MQ? When quickly scrolling through it makes it kind of confusing because I see 'Celeb I might want to check out - something something some event something HQ'. But wait, do a double take and it says "Jessica Alba - Breathtaking and cleavy@'07 Grazie Gianni Con Amore Dinner. 12 not hq".

Maybe I'm the only person that feels this way. Maybe nobody else power scans topic titles. IMHO the phrase 'not HQ' is not okay. And that' my :2cent:

I'm not trying to pick on anyone in particular. Nowhere else have I ever seen a trend develop towards titling a thread with what it isn't. It's just not logical.

I guess I can see your point but if you'd click on just one of the thumbs you'd see that they are LQ and then you can choose not to click the rest. That can't take up to much time. Also, Would you really not go into a thread if it's labeled LQ?

One a somewhat related topic. I find it kind of annoying when people complain that a pic labeled "HQ" is actually "MQ" to them. There are no set dimensions so people sometimes don't know what to label the pics. I basically always say MQ now even when they are UHQ just so I don't have to deal with it.

Same thing with seeing "We need HQs" or "Anyone have HQ?" in almost every LQ thread. Don't you think someone would post them if they had them? NO SHIT YOU WANT HQS!!!!!!!

I'm tired so I don't know if any of that makes sense but that's all the ranting I'll be doing now thanks for your time. :)

well i've just done a power/advanced search for headers containing key words
"cheryl tweedy cole HQ" and it shows up an LQ post of mine and an MQ post elsewhere - so the system is far from perfect anyway
(and yes, my "not HQ" posts show up too)

    http://forum.phun.org/search.php?searchid=69434389

but just for you, Sir, i'll post my headers with LQ from now on (i've never understood what MQ is anyway)

    take care... ;)

Thanks for the input guys. I had a constructive criticism and it's good to see some serious responses. Honestly I suppose it's just a minor inconvenience I just had to inquire about it. I'm a member of a few forums and this is the only place I've seen this trend. One particular forum I frequent doesn't use any quality tags unless the pics are HQ or UHQ. They don't bother with MQ or LQ either, nor do I really know the limit of each.

I post 'not HQ' in a lot of my thread titles, if people look at the title then they can tell straight away. I put LQ if the pics are very small, but I don't like doing LQ/MQ for pics that could be seen as one or the other, and then having people start piping up in the thread and saying the title is wrong. Not HQ covers both LQ's and MQ's. We ask that people label their threads to advise if the pics aren't HQ, so if you see a celeb thread that doesn't have a decription of pic quality, it's usually safe to say it's HQ.

I agree with all of this.

Thanks for the clarification Kieks. I didn't know that HQ was the default. I do prefer it that way anyway, love seeing some nice celeb cleavage in HQ:D

As is usually the case, a quick perusal of the rules thread would have resulted in a lack of need for this thread. ;)

    8. We prefer that HQ or UHQ pictures are posted but if you are going to post LQ or MQ or Tagged pictures you must note 'LQ' or 'MQ' or 'Tagged' in your thread title.

This thread did clarify that 'not HQ' is an acceptable substitution for LQ or MQ. If it's really that useless trash it.

I'll lock it, as it's been answered but won't trash it, as it will be useful info if someone else stumbles across it who has the same query.
