One word posts screwing threads

I really, again, only used that as an example.

Perhaps this is an easier way of putting my point across - At 9am this morning I post a "new to phun - jessica simpson" thread - at 9.13am that post is on page three. Not because its didnt catch people's eye but because a person posted 35 's - does that not make sense?

Spammers dont care. Nothing is sacred. Being equal opportunity post boosters, they attack all sides of Phun. Try marking the sig threads with "NS" if you want to keep them clear of useless posts, like thread starters had to do in the General Forum.

The spam beast was turned loose with all the free speach debate we had not long ago. Whether it be 1 word or 100 lines, all posts were supposed to be OK if it wasnt offensive. Add to that an award for the efforts of top post count boosters and here we are.

As for desireable threads disapearing too quickly, thats nothing new. Phun simply has a lot of posters that spin the mill very quickly, particularly in the model and celeb forums. There is little anyone can do about that other than limiting the number of threads started per day, which I dont see happening due to the vast amount of content available.

 

I have commentary......but I'll just keep that to myself.

How do you limit ANYTHING posted in a forum?? have the mods look at EVERY post and decide if it's worthy to be allowed? I'm sure they'll enjoy that... P4? Riv? anyone?
No solution, moot point.

 

Here is my take on what has happened so far. I started a thread just to raise the topic, it is clear that there is no solution in terms of rules that can be introduced and lets face it we dont need any more rules, we are big boys.

That said I think it would be fare to say that there is a mood amongst most that we perhaps self regulate a little and do as we want but at the same time perhaps give some consideration for others and there efforts.

Which is better 35,ooo posts of or 1,ooo posts of met art models? I know who I'd have more time for.

 

The problem is... Do you REALLY think that those who are 'big offenders' really give a rat's patootie about self-regulating? Sorry m8, nice idea but it's not gonna happen.

I don't know if it was mentioned, but another solution could be to to separate the celebrity section (Most pics are posted there), and split it in 2-4 sections (Celebrity A-F for example).

Some threads wouldn't go back to page 3 or 4 that quickly.

I think it has been suggested before though.

I'd hate that. One the few occasions i visited SP i detested it due to that exact reason.

The forums are fine, they work and will continue to work. If someone can't be bothered flciking back through three or four pages then they really are blooming lazy.

More work then necessary, We'll be moving thread amongst 4 sections because users wont know or understand whether to post according to first name or last.

The bump issue is primarily a Celeb Forum issue, while the SVF might be the most active thread, the users there tend to prefer their anonymity when d/l porn.
