I like spiders...i'm not sure but it seems one. A closest view of his cephalothorax may getting us the doubt. What a beautiful place.

so i was out in nature this last week end, and shot some random pictures of the local wildlife fighting over territorial rights - again. seems this has happend three times now, and the blue are 3-1 so far. ;)

keep in mind, im sitting 10 rows back in the bleachers, im zooming the camera max, i took over 151 photos, and this is what i got worth sharing, i really need a better camera, but i think this Kodak Easy share SDB61215 is knocking my socks right clean off.

BG - thanks for the warning...although I'm still not sure if this is a fiddle or recluse spider. I may have mis-identified it. Recluse spiders aren't typically native to our area according to a few region maps I've seen.

At any rate - I shot it from about 20ft. away with a 200mm lens...so I wasn't anywhere close to it at the time.

Due to all the heavy rain we've had lately, the pond water in one of our local parks was rather muddy brown.

So my shot of the ducks got the color replacement treatment in Pshop.

    Hey SK
good to hear you were far way, but this gives me a quick opertunity to share about this thing, i do hope you dont mind.

do yourself a favor and check with your local Dept Of Nat Resources, they track this little fucker. Yes the photo you shot is without any doubt the fiddle/brown. i know that bugger anywhere.

a tiny back ground, when i lived in Arizona I had a couple hundred black widow spiders in my back yard, i loved them, they were very cool. Ive never been afraid of spiders ever. Then i met a man in Peoria Illinois that was bit by this brown. Holy shit his legs were rotted timbers and he told me if he got so much as a scratch he went to emergency.
But I figured it was no big deal, he was just allergic, then chunky monkey got bit and telling his story, so i started looking as what it was and this fuck scares the hell out of me. ive been trying to let people to know about it becouse most folks around here have no idea there is even venom spiders around.

They were not known to my region but three have been found, one at the highschool,

so... if you get the chance, let them know they may or may not care.

now i hope chunky dont mind but here is what he wrote me.
    ;)

I noticed the bite because it had a burning sensation to it. I was bitten in my bedroom and found
the spider dead under the bed covers curled up. I puked like a crazy man. I also had
severe destructive necrotic lesions and was given a tetanus antibiotics and had to go through a
small skin graft at the bite site. The bacterial infection spread to my organs and affected the heart
muscle; which is also rare with brown recluse spider bites. I just happen to be one of the unlucky
few. The damage to the heart muscle itself was a secondary cause from the infection at the bite
area. I now do aerobic exercises to condition the heart. I live in central Iowa.

    Go to this site: www.brown-recluse.com/spiderinfo.html

This just gives me the opportunity to warn folks, when out in the wood or trotting thought he trees, do not walk through the web.

Needed some fresh air today, been sick for a while and just been indoors ... so i went out and visited an old castle:

Svaneholm Castle (Swedish: Svaneholms slott), on the shore of Lake Svaneholmssjön in Skurup Municipality, Scania, southern Sweden was initially erected in the 1530s by the Danish knight and royal advisor Mourids Jepsen Sparre. Original murder-holes in the oldest castle walls are still preserved.

We've had some really dramatic skies in the area lately - lots of storms and big cloud systems.

Shot this earlier this afternoon on the way back from Niagara Falls.
