Nothing but a bunch of empty promises, and failed contacts.

Over the past 2 months, I have spent over a week in Dallas on day trips to places saying they wanted somebody to create quick programs for them. I drive 5 hours there, talk for 5-10 minutes then they say they aren't sure if they want to proceed and will call me. So 10 hours on the road, and nothing.

I've had a few interviews, but can't get any responses from those either.

    :banghead:

I am pretty sure I have broken almost every traffic law in the Dallas area as well. I just hate going down there.

Damn, left this food in the microwave to long! Burnt my tounge.

Economy is just shit right now! They're laying people off here and/or cutting their hours to a max of 32/week. You have to take vacation if you want the other 8. Which I don't understand that....what the hell's the difference in paying vacatioin & reg. hours? Anyway, hopefully things will look up for you. Keep your head up!

Salisbury steak w/ mushroom gravy and patatoes. Barely enough for a 10 y/o but it curbs your appetite. It's not bad.

I'm not tooo worried right now. I only have mortgage, utilities, and food to pay. No other bills. $400 a week in unemployment, and once I run out of my severance pay, I can get food stamps too. My final severance payment hits 9/1 and it will last me the rest of the year. What happens next, I have no idea. I would prefer to use that money to buy something nice for the family, but I have to get a job first.

Just taking a moment out of my day today to see what all I have missed here.

    :hi: Bama, Inuk :)

:hi: LB, nice to meet you. Wish it were under better circumstances.

Do you by chance write web portal software? Or hack ancient AS400 government archive setups?

not portal software, I create eLearning software for distribution on an LMS.
So if you just need a quick flash page of something, I may be able to help, but not full portal stuff.

As far as AS400, I just used/trained an existing one for a Fortune 500 company. I am not skilled in hacking them. I may know a guy, that knows a guy though.

We are always in need of a good programmer who can hack ancient bridges and further extend our 1990 era AS400 school records. It isnt a task for the weak. It's been hacked and bridged/extended for so long the original vendor wont touch it.

Well, like I said above, we're always looking for a good hack to keep this cobbled piece of shit going for another year. It's a public edu so the bene's are excellent and the pay is around 75-80 to start, if you can pass the trial period.

The portal job is working in stamford, ct. where I have a buddy who needs experienced people in apricot.
