That you want to help people is plain to see, if I knew more, I would possibly venture an opinion or 2 about where you could do that

Have you looked at Habitat for Humanity?
Very practical way to help people, & a great way to go see a part of the world you would like to help, & see if that is really where your interest lies.

More power to ya for looking in that direction.
Too many (me included) are too focussed on what they can get, rather than what they can give.
