    After sobering up from the Easter weekend I noticed Magge took some pics while under the influence;
so I used my "sober up" tool and leveled the horizon and restored perspective. :D

Used some gradual neutral density filters (black to transparent); I know some software that has presets but I like to make my own to my liking.
Next I worked on warmth (kinda like a Skylight filter on your lense would do), color contrast and removed most of the glare (sky and sea).
Ended by sharpening the edges with an inverted blurred copy (g-blur of 15px) of the source image to give it a crisp look. ;)

Don't take me wrong but I also had a go at Sabre's goats.

First one is more or less a similar adjustment process as Magge's.

    source [IMG] output [IMG]

Second is a real edit, blending 2 in 1.
Had to resize it 'cause the original image was to large to host on imagevenue.

This time went over the top and used a dramatically blurred copy to sharpen them both up but I think I got away with it.

That's cuz the vikings are under contract for CapitalOne commercials. ;)

Excellent shots Magge. When I first saw the thumbnails I thought perhaps it was the viking settlement restoration in Newfoundland (Canada).

Some great history without a doubt.

My intentions of this thread was whatever pics of nature that you took yourself. Like I said in my first post in here, nature is for me an escape sometimes when I need it. If i'm having a terrible day at work then see I a pic of a beautiful creation like lakes, rivers, sunsets, etc lots of times it makes me stop feeling sorry for myself. There's things in life that's bigger than a smartass not wanting to wait on you to help them. Sometimes I forget that, and all of you help to remind me of it. ;)

    So Thanks! :D

exactly, even such small "accessories" like these few "pre-easter"-views on some flowers (and their guests) around my house.

i´s almost unbelievable - we had a long, humid winter, nature was back behind about 2-3 weeks in march - and now it´s almost 2 weeks ahead of the "usual" status.
a friend of mine is a beekeeper - he´s almost sure that this year will be a poor fruit-year, it´s just too much work for the bees these days. everything is in blossom, they just can´t pollinate everything simultaneously.
    we´ll see....

We had a late hard freeze down here but the experts are saying they didn't think it set them back to bad since it only lasted a few hours. As far as the plants in my yard it killed every one of the blooms :( Generally they'll come back again shortly after if we have enough rain, which we have but no blooms yet.

Thanks for the pics Riv, they're awesome as always!

    kind of "educating nature"...

been to a Border Collie - workshop on the weekend.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

smart dogs and quite an impressive "opponent" (Heidschnucke / German Heath)
do yourself and the dog a favor - don´t get one as long as you don´t have the time to work with him at least for 3 hours a day. sometimes bored Border Collies suffer from the "car syndrome" - they try to herd driving cars... quite often a lethal attempt.

I have 2 border collies! Yes, they try to herd anything if it starts moving! Thanks River. Maybe you'll get a border collie? They're very loyal and loving dogs, too.

You've put into words the same feelings I have when I'm out on the trails of Niagara with the camera. Its the finest form of escapism I know of...far from the rigors of the 40hr week and the idiots who tend to dominate too much of my time and patience.

Once again, thanks Bamafan for creating this thread...and the spirit in which it was started. :D
