    ok what does your cpu say. if you don't mind try burning again but this time leave the task manager on and look at what the cpu is doing. If it is maxing out then let me know. btw, is this an old HD? or one of the HD that you salvaged from a prior comp?

    no it's a new hard drive azz.

    CPU said 2% with damn, sometimes it's jumping right up to 55%

    no the old hard drive was cooked. these hard drives are new ones.

    I"ll try burn it again.

    cpu is jumping up to 55% again, but steady around 4% available physical memory is around 303K

    my computer is crashing tonight while I am trying to burn a dvd throbbn.

    says it's going to take 12 minutes to burn it. usually with like 3 minutes left my computer crashes. :(

    HOLY HELL! 5 minutes left. I may leave. :(

    keep an eye on it, if you have a duel core or hyperthreading cpu look at the tab with graphs of the cpu usage. See if one side is causing the cpu to max out on one of the cores. If it is then I think i know what it is. bad hd.
