Signature of the Week - Discussion thread

i'll temporarily hijack this conversation since i created the theme, all it needs to be is a sig with girls and a sporting theme. this could be a female athlete, a model photographed with a football, or even a model photographed in anyway whatsoever but created into a sporty sig. however there does need to be some coherent connection between the girl and the sport, not just a pair of tits with a team logo next to it!... make it look like the logo's painted onto the tits however, different story!

 

Right, everyone read this next sentence very, very closely.

IT'S NOT A SIG BATTLE.

Somewhere along the line the term sig battle has been stamped over everything to do with this.

This is what it is.

Someone puts up some stock image/images in the appropriate thread (it doesn't even have to be for sigs). Then anyone who wants to use them makes a sig (or whatever) and posts the sig. We don't choose a winner, we don't lord it up over other people sigs. We check out what they did with the same materials and comment on it and move on. NO BATTLES, NO WARS, NO ABANDONING OTHER THREADS.

It's making sigs, still making sigs, still contributing to the sig threads, still posting sigs. I have no idea why anyone would consider this wrong at all. I find it crazy to read of opposition to the promoton of creativity in a creative forum.

Finally somebvody defines what you actually want to do. if thats what it is....why do you call it a battle?

 

In my opinion just try the idea out since some people seem to like it, if it doesnt work u can just stop it. J
ust let people try to do there new ideas i don't see how that can do any damage to anyone at all. Nice words jamms!

 

I thought it was obvious what the guys where looking to do. Right at the start of the SOTW, as a fan of the concept, I suggested original material should be supplied so we can see what creative powers were at work.

I only see the new suggestion as that, except in reverse with everyone using the same original material.

 

Just a term, nothing more. Doesn't mean anything.

Sigs created from the same source might be a better title.

 

So... if all this discussion about "what do different artists do with the same pic to start from" is over can we get back to the actual SotW?

"Only" 6 entries so far... is this theme is harder than the previous ones?

I haven't had any ideas for the theme yet but i will still be entering. I'll enter every week possible.

 

I was under the impression that you guys wanted to do one on one head to head sigs battles....meaning only 2 people in a battle.

Even still...."Same source image" should be kept a theme for SOTW.

 

We can do both. It's all fun.

I got a sig idea for this weeks sotw

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!

 

Anyone else struggling to come up with anything for this weeks SOTW? I keep having vague ideas but then can't find a suitable pic to try them out. Been busy this week as well so might just not enter this time.

 

I'm in the same boat, I really have no good pictures to work with as a base. I've been busy all week as well and very little time to really think of anything.

Unless I can pull something together tonight or tomorrow evening, I'll be passing on this week as well.

 

i'm still failing to see why that would matter?

 

It's been real busy at work this week. So i've had no time to make much of anything for this week. If I get some time tonight i'll send one in, otherwise i'll just wait till next week.

 

It wouldn't be fair to anyone else who visits the thread and wants to join in. If you want to do that you should do it in pms.

Somebody should just start a thread and post a picture or two for everyone to use to make a sig. Call it something like "Same pics...different sigs" Don't use the word battle or competition.

Back on topic, I've had no time this week but I might be able to make one tomorrow for this weeks SOTW.

 

Got some more entries now, so there will be a nice list to choose from after all .

I did get one entry that is bigger than the allowed size to use on this forum. However: I didn't mention anything about that in the rules. Which means that it is allowed (for now) to enter with it, but you can't use it here after the competition is over.

Maybe I should put it in the rules? I've also been thinking that I should allow vertical sigs in the competition. As long as they're not used as actual sigs, it's no problem to enter them for the sig of the week. What do you guys think?
