    I seem to recall the forest itself was the park, but I am often wrong. "Cheha" certainly rings a bell.

    Whichever it was, they (USDoT or ADot....I forget) planned several roads through it.....some were alternate routes for existing roads (that's done all the time, either for flood damaged roads or to improve existing roads) and some were, I think, plans for another east-west freeway. None of their work went past the planning, as far as I heard.

    Naw...consultant in the oil/mining/environmental industries. Worked on Cornwallis Island (and the islands around it, and the mainland) on and off between 1993 and about 2002 trying to extend the life of the mine there.

    I just put the final nail in the coffin of my trip to Baker Lake....sending someone else instead. I'm going to celebrate with some more coffee :)

    Talladega national forest is a state park so you're probably right. I-20 runs east - west through it. It's the major connector for Birminham, AL and Atlanta, GA which trades a lot of business. We don't have the funds to finish new roadways they've been working on for probably 10 years so no, I don't see any other major highways poping up around here.
