Signature of the Week - Discussion thread

I think you can interpret villains as male or female.
It was discussed before, I just can't find where.

Some people are gonna have to redo their sig if females aren't allowed.

It's something we can learn from tho. If you want to be strickt about the theme, specify it. (I personally wouldn't like to be too tied down tho, limited in creativity I mean)

 

By the way, just posted my first poll in the model forum and they allow up to 30 different categoroies for voting. Why only 10 here?

 

Please don't get me wrong... I am just trying to make sure I understand the acceptable. I don't want anyone to have to change anything.

Dont change the rules anymore bio. Just keep it the way it is.
I think that everyone will agree, when I say that they would want to see
how many votes they got.

Do you think seeing how many votes a sig has before you vote makes people vote differently? The first week when it was a poll and nobody could see how many votes each sig had before they voted the votes were spread out between almost all of them. Last week when we could see the votes it was less spread out. Did that make sense to everyone?

 

Leave it as is, IMO.

I am interested in seeing the sigs every week and finding out who did what sigs and discussing everything good i see. The original idea behind this.

It shouldn't matter about the votes in the end because this is a light hearted competition. Keep the rules the same, they are working and everyone is happy about them.

Post the entire list of sigs, not ones voted for or even the winners. It's far less in the spirit of this to show only the winners and not the entire effort. It wouldn't be as fair or as much fun to eliminate sigs with no votes.

If that happened this competition would slowly become about the votes. In time we would only show the top three and thats not what it is about. The creation of the sigs and the spurring of ideas and sharing techniques is the aim of this game. The voting is just a fun addition to motivate us all together.

 

I'm noob in PS aswell, but I've sent an entry. The more the merrier!
And simple sigs are sometimes great.

This "lighthearted" competition should be as uncomplicated as possible and without changing rules mid-week. More rules = Less interest. I hope it will remain simple.

If votes really dont matter, the SOTW could pertain to themes only, without any votes being cast. We could vote for the next theme instead of winning sigs. Makers might be more willing to design more than one sig per theme each week. It might also bring in more makers who have no interest in competing.

 

Those are very good ideas.

But I think that we should leave it the way it is right now....at least for awhile.

I think the way it's going now is great... so I only change rules when things go wrong or something (which I don't expect).

The thing about people voting for a sig because it has a lot of votes.
People should vote for the sig that they think is best, but it may subconsiously influence people when they see the rankings.

That's why I hope we can have poll voting this week. I'm talking to Cayne about it, hope it's fixed tomorrow when I put up the voting thread.
