  2. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

I've noticed on some other forums that when one hovers over posts one is sometimes rewarded with a few thumbnails of the contents. This would, IMO, be a Godsend in the phun search results listings. Whilst things have improved, post titles can be inconsistent and unhelpful, and sometimes downright misleading. Trying to avoid reposts can currently entail opening lots of cryptically-titled posts to examine the contents, whereas a look at thumbnails as one hovered over the post title might be so much quicker!

Firstly, am I on my own in experiencing this as a problem, and looking for a solution?

Secondly, is it technically feasible to introduce the facility for the search system only?

Thirdly, would the extra processor/server/whatever load be tolerable and considered justifiable?

I sometimes find the search to be crazy annoying. I have a few threads i have been hunting for and can't find them, no matter what the parameters i enter are.

Yes, but a later version, v3.7.4!

    Whether that's significant, I don't know!

Yeah, would be def. useful, but like you already mentioned, it would most likely kill our already stressed-out 4 servers... :(
