Folks from Michigan have always been good to me... Well, there was this one babe, but she was insane. Probably had nothing to do with growing up in Detroit. ;)

I still don't know how it works. But, since I'm so fucking old (see age thread), I'm sure there's knowledge-swapping to be done.

So, why Vegas? What's your story, scribe?

    51 isn't old.
    I like the heat.

I hit the road at 19 and have been on the move ever since, sometimes just for a few miles, but still... :D

I'm just a regular Joe. I have a kid, I don't have a wife, just a healthy libido. I drink and smoke too much. I like to shoot pool. Used to be a tradesman - carpentry, painting, sheetmetal fabricator, etc - but now I write for a living. Ha ha, that even sounds lame to me. Sometimes I bartend too when the bills pile up faster than the paychecks, if you know what I mean.

I know what you mean. I'm paycheck-to-paycheck. No kids. My ex-wife, whose family is from Italy, left me when I told her I wouldn't raise a child in the Catholic church, even though I told her the same thing before we were married. I think she thought she could change me. I still want to have at least one child.

I started as a professional musician. Made my first 4 dollars when I was about 15 years old. I played drums and classical percussion -- and taught private lessons -- here in the Motown area until Karaoke and computer drums killed the "good money" gigs. (My ex-wife's steady 9-5 job supported my off-times.)

That's when I became a writer. I was published on my first try by a music magazine. I wrote for the magazine for a while; then I went to a creative trade school to get a valid commercial writing portfolio together. A few months later I was hired by an ad agency. Then a lay-off, a divorce and some personal tough times.

Fucking Catholics are like that. They're no less arrogant - or ignorant - than any other Christian sect. Fuck 'em.

I never meant to have the child, but now I can't imagine not having her. It sounds cliche, but then cliches are just well spoken truths.
Music is always a tough gig except for about .0001% of the musicians in this world. I admire your dedication. I have many friends who are musicians, all of whom are more talented than all but the very best you hear on the radio. That always seems to be the case in my experience.
Some people I know who started a small town paper in Colorado asked me if I'd be interested in writing a column for their paper. I figured why not? I'll give it a shot. The column is titled 'My thoughts exactly." I've been doing it off and on for 15 years. They also have a small outdoors/recreation mag that I contribut to from time to time. It's fun.

3 years ago I started writing the novel that had been banging about in my brain for the past 10 or 11 years prior to that. I wound up writing two and started on a third because there was just too much material to put into one story without it turning into a James Mitchner-like epic. I've been working on getting it/them sold for the past year or so. On my terms.

Hey, inuk, you still out there?!

Yeah. I was one of the .0001% -- and it's a tough go. I wouldn't trade it for the world, though. You know the best part of being a drummer? Next time you see an Avril Lavigne live concert pic, look at what the drummer behind her is staring at. I've seen some of the best female-singer asses around here. :D

Very rarely. He posted in a thread in the Celeb forum today, which kind of took me by surprise. I don't know why he doesn't come around much anymore.

    Morning, 2001.

Do you prefer 2001? Or pm? Or something hip, like 20, or 01, or 2? Or something of a tangent, like Major? (As in drum major?)

No. I happened to see your post in the Don Johnson thread. ;)
I'm gonna call him 21, short, simple and perfect for a lazy arse like me. :p

Gotta love me some Don Johnson.

21 - ooh, a contraction. Which actually makes sense, phun-style.

It's kind of funny you should mention that. A couple of weeks ago he was in here with a bunch of new posters he's never heard of, like CelticBull and tayaub and Ray and insomniac and superior12 myself, and jenn says to inuk, "what happened to all the regulars?" and I posted, "We are the regulars ;)"
