    1. More (and better) women
    2. Cheaper booze
    3. Cheaper tickets

    Sorry for the delay in response but this will be a lengthy, short version of what I am going to discuss.

    Our area is kind of ambivolent about pro sports teams that are brought here. We have, or had, Pro Soccer (indoors and outdoors), Semi-Pro basketball and now NBDL, AFL2, USFL, AA Baseball, and Ice Hockey. The locals prefer high school sports and college sports. I only watch pro games, so I am a minority voice. If they want to get our area on the map, instead of being the first city to get a regular season high school football game sponsored by a major corporation and played in Division 1A football field to a sold out/SRO crowd. Get the town behind the pro sports the same way.

    AA Baseball: Our team has won the league championships several times and developed many pros. We are currently tied to the Colorado Rockies. When the Arizona Diamondbacks were new, we had their players sprinkled in with ours. In the past we were the farm team for the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers, too. I go frequently and see stars in the making.
    Fan base is solid, if not spectacular.

    Pro Soccer: Ended about 15 years ago here. They have tried to revive it with indoor semi-pro and a couple of outdoor semi-pros since then, but nobody shows up.

    Semi-Pro basketball: We had a team win the US championship and fold the next year due to lack of attendance. The NBDL has now moved a team here and still nobody shows up.

    USFL: The team lasted here 1 season then moved to Arizona. Then the whole league collapsed.

    AFL2: The team won the us championship last year, and has been in the playoffs every year. Nobody shows up until the playoff games. But how sad is it that you can't even get a real AFL team, you have to have a minor league team of a sport knock off.

    Ice Hockey: We have had semi-pro, development league, and independent leagues. Place is always empty. Hard to develop a following where the kids can't skate. We only have 1 ice rink in town, and it is always reserved.

    Sounds just like Birmingham, AL. Our college everything is off the charts but we just can't get a pro team to commit there because of the semi-pro teams that have flopped. I'm sure the attentance would be great for a pro but there's just not a huge interest in semi-pro around this state.

    We have an exhibition NBA game that will be between the Mavericks and Rockets, it sold out in 1 hour.

    The Eagles concert sold out in 40 minutes.

    I checked the invite for the forum this evening and there will be some big wigs from big companies there, so I am hoping to rub some elbows and find a new gig.
