I know this might be an unpopular opinion but I'm just not feeling this season of The Boys.

Unsure what it is but it just feels really weak currently. Maybe things will change, who knows.

 

You're not the only one who feels that way. I actually liked the spinoff's first season more than I am liking season 4 of the main show (so far anyway).

 

its just 3 episodes so far my guy...it doesnt pick off right when the last season ended, a lot of time has passed in the show and they have to set up the scene for what's about to come. Obviously that smart chick is gonna be the villain and manipulate everyone to fight each other just because she is bored or something (because there are no smart writers to come up with something better for such a show, case and point all the previous seasons and that they dont follow the main plot at all and just do whatever is trending....)

 

That's my gripe. Though the comic was some edge lord bullshit, at least the revelation at the end was somewhat interesting and had an arc.

The first season had potential but since then the running plot has been meandering. It been 'villain of the week', frankly, ever since. Not to mention some of the questionable decision making on characters (aka making Frenchie gay when the previous season had a strong focus on a potential romantic interest with him and Kimiko).

I know its only a couple of episodes in but I feel the direction has become somewhat poor and I'm a bit concerned it's become more about checking off that diversity checklist that everyone is so fond of in Hollywood now rather than, as you stated, making the main plot a key point.

 

I didn't understand the Frenchie being gay angle because of exactly what you said about him trying to be with Kimiko, but his ex-girlfriend on their phone call seemed to insinuate that this is nothing new for Frenchie.
