I've drank it before - I didn't like it at all. Can't stand Miller High Life either. They're just not my taste. Man, you all are making me thirsty now.

 

The point of the excercise is to have fun. Taste is a big part of that. I have a lot more enjoyable time drinking several Anchor Steam Ales than drinking several Schlitzes. I'd rather have 6 beers I like than 9 I don't.

I'll take an Allagash White (Belgian-style whit), Guiness (cream stout), Anchor Steam (California Common), Weeping Radish Corolla Gold (Gold lager), Geary's Pale Ale (Pale Ale), Shipyard IPA (India Pale Ale), or a lot of other things over either.

I'm just saying if you're stuck drinking an American-style lager PBR is one of the less offensive ones.

I'd take a Yuengling Traditional Lager over any of the above but technically that's an American-style pilsener which is a slightly different style of beer.

Those things all depend on what tastes you like. I'm not a huge fan of American lagers, but I prefer them over most porters, nut brown ales, and oatmeal-style stouts.

For some reason, a lot of people have a hard time with American lagers. They might hate porters, but if you like them they chalk it up to different taste. But if you like American lagers they'll say you have no taste or terrible taste.

I find that odd; the point is to find something you like. Now, American lagers are so prevalent here that there's a natural "do you really prefer them, or have you never tried a lot of other kinds of beer?" question. But if someone's tried a lot of stuff and decided that fits their taste, there's no intrinsic reason that a Belgian Tripel is inherently superior to an American light lager.

Point being, the taster liked it. That makes him not a good fit for my tastes, so his recommendations aren't worth much to me--but I'm sure there's someone out there who loves Milwaukee's Best and can read his other tasting notes to get good ideas for other things to try.

 

yeah, i've tried that as well. It's okay to me. I'm just bad about getting one taste of one brand and that's all I want. I don't venture out with others as much as I should, I know i'm missing out.

any of the ice beers will get you wrecked quick but I haven't found one I like yet.
