She looks so miserable lately. Here, she looks like she was crying shortly before these pics were taken.

 

Her three current looks are miserable, angry or surprised.

 

She should have worn a mini gown with her gams!!!

She can smile. Idk...maybe she is purposely trying to look pissed/sad on the red carpet. Either that or age has just given her a serious case of rbf.

 

We might have to contact the authorities, someone is clearly holding her dog to ransom.

 

Or, you know, maybe she's human and struggling to cope with the emotional fallout from the breakdown of her 11 year marriage with the father of her kids. Sheesh...

I keep hearing this. As if she needs someone to come to her defense. As someone pointed out in another thread of her, she has been photographed at events smiling and looking like she is enjoying herself. The same can be seen here is some of the adds. Its a valid statement that she has been looking angry or sad on red carpets. If she is smiling or enjoying herself at events, it seems odd that she chooses to look the way she has, knowing that red carpets are a hotspot for tons of photos to be taken. Its not an attack, its an observation. If she is so distraught (I'm not suggesting she is or she isn't. I don't know where she's at mentally anymore than you do.) and being on the red carpet bothers her, she can always not attend. She genuinely looks like she has zero interest in being there.

 

She probably does have zero interest in being there, but working the red carpet is part of an actor's job. Half the job is promotion of works and doing award shows and being seen in public is part of that. If she doesn't show her face from time to time eventually overpaid executives are going to think 'What the hell is wrong with Natalie Portman?' and 'We're not going to cast her in our film because she won't even be a team player and do the barest minimum of promotion'

 

So, she has to make sure she shows up to these things because she's an actress and its part of her job if she wants to keep getting work. If there is nothing wrong with that expectation, then why not "act" like you want to be there? Im not an overpaid exec and neither are others here that have made similar observations (at least i don't think they are. I guess ya never know), but isn't thinking "What the hell is wrong with Natalie Portman" kind of what we're doing? She's not promoting anything right now, as far as I know, but would they want her promoting with this kind of excitement?

Holy shit this is a lot of expositon over a valid statement about the way she has looked on the red carpet. I think its just to be argumentative at this point. Nobody is attacking Natalie Portman or belittling what she has had to endure. Although, I seem to remember you displaying a "What did she expect" attitude towards that.

 

Have you ever had to go in to work when you really didn't want to? Imagine that, and then imagine on top of that your boss was all like 'Oh, act like you want to be here'

She's still promoting May December, it being award season, and there's always future projects

I did. But, just because this was incredibly easy to see coming doesn't mean I'm entirely lacking in sympathy

 

Honestly, it might just be the demeanor she adopts for the red carpet. Nina Dobrev started doing something similar a few years back, but is often all-smiles when you see candids of her.

If not, I can only wish the best for her. Life's too short to be unhappy.

Neither am I. I haven't said anything unsympathetic. Certainly not anything like "She should have known better". Anyway, I'm done spamming up threads. You've said your piece and I've said mine. She looks miserable. My original point and it remains the same.
