OK I'm still having a problem. I can't figure out how to have a large, hotlinked picture with ImageShadow. If you click the first picture below, you can see the full size of it. It's 386 x 600.

Clickable:


Taking the section I want from the above picture, on this next picture below, I've entered:

http: //www.imageshadow.com/images/09022008min/mona_lisa229980_1e.jpg [/IMG[/B]] (Without Any Spaces)

... and it comes out like this:

So, it's just removing the clickability and still leaving it the same size. What am I doing wrong that's preventing me from getting the large picture received when clicking the very top picture?

as far as i see it... literally there´s no real hotlinking on imageshadow. it´s just working with pics of max. height of 180px. for bigger pics you need the other recommended hosts.

imageshadow is perfect for many purposes.
i personally like the shadows around the thumbs, the various thumb-sizes available, the upload-speed (okay, maybe not around noon GMT...), the thumb-quality and the page-load.

(and even more personally... i have general objections towards hotlinking pics beyond a certain size, esp. as "cover"-pics of model-forum-thrreads. reduces page-load, lowers/displaces the pics, breakes the thread-frame)

 

ah, ok. that's it then. thanks. i like the shadows too. been using it a bit instead of imagevenue lately. have you paid attention to whether the pics stay active as long as imagevenue by any chance? i actually like imageshadow better than imagevenue, but imagevenue has the best reputation for pics staying active for a long time. thanks again riv.

 

They've been acting up funny lately, but there must be some server trouble with them.

What I've noticed sometimes they don't give the "Forum 2" code, which is the full image link, so I have to click it in a new tab and get the code from the image itself, dunno if it is because of img size because I always host the cover/outro pics in my threads, but happens sometimes. any body got the same situation?

 

I'm here to respond on behalf of (iS) Image Socket, let me address few issues first.

Send us feedback or post in new news item with your issue, I highly doubt our web site is freezing your computer Perhaps try running Spybot s&d.

This is true, and we introduced this very recently. Keep in mind we give you a whooping 1 GIG of transfer for EACH HOT LINKED image. Thumbs do not have this limit at all. As host grows this must be put in place, we tried to make it as free as possible.

I give you a little hint, if you register and host your image under registered account your limit will be 'raised' and you will only see this error if your image received under 100 views on our site
AND used over 2GIG's of bandwidth. Seems fair?

We have been doing awesome things with our infrastructure for past week or two resulting in not so awesome problems, it should be much faster now.

I understand all of you want to show big images, etc and have no restrictions but reality is, if you grow large you will be forced to prevent those things because it costs money to provide this service.

Personally if you go ahead and edit links we give you (we show hotlink code only if image is under 120KB automatically) to display full image, that's fine by us. But keep in mind that we are supported by ads, and it /sucks/. At least don't do it all the time

Hey Alekseykorzun,thanks for the reply..if you are from IS?? just wondering how much bandwidth does phun use compared to other sites? is that possible to determine? must be i guess if you are here telling us about it?

 

My computer is sort of old, so who knows what is causing it to freeze.

I have to wait until a thread completely loads before I can do any toggling or dragging of the mouse.

 

Impossible to tell exactly bandwidth wise. I can only give you traffic for our web site (not image servers, etc).

As of right now for today (8:18am):

Phun referrals only: 4435

I can also tell you that Phun does get top 10 every other day for most `loads` of images from image server.
