    I didn't know bout Maisie!
No idea who Samantha Fox, Linda Perry, Alice Braga, Claudia Cardinale are.

    Love Emma Thompson.

I can't stand Seth Rogen, add Kim Il-sung to that list.

    Leonardo da Vinci, genius!!!

But you like to take baths with her  Shame, shame, shame!

Claudia was a hottie... Was. Today she's an old lady with too many surgeries. A lesson of life: you can't beat aging.
She's in a bunch of good (italian ) movies, including "Once Upon a Time in the West" which, as "A Clockwork Orange", it's a must-watch.

If you wanna know (I guess not) about Samantha Fox, you could talk with any british guy above 35.
Alice Braga is a brazilian actress, she's in Hollywood now but her best movie is "City of God", another great film.

And Linda Perry... What would the Internet be without the He-Man song?

The thing with Rogen is that he has a very limited act going on, so if you have seen him once you have seen what he has to offer. I dont like him i dont dislike him either. He works best if there is some time between work you watch that he is in.

    Another must-see classic!
Perhaps the impact of seeing a previously consistent romantic lead and altogether good-guy (Henry Fonda) as a sadistic killer will be lost on young first-timers nowadays,
but it's an immensely satisfying Western morality tale on an epic scale!

Shocked at the fire at Notre-Dame tonight, when I lived in Paris I used to go in there two or three times a week.

It was so incredible inside, I used to spend hours sitting there looking at the Rose window, which tragically seems to have been destroyed tonight.

850 + years destroyed in a few hours.

A cultural landmark deeply rooted in the heart of the french nation. It has also been a meeting place for all the different people that together makes up france. It will take some time probably between 5 and 10 years but it will be rebuilt. They maybe have to rebuild it from the ground up it depends on whether the less damaged parts have water damage.

Learn something new everyday, I didn't know you lived in Paris at one time, I'm envious of your worldliness:cheers:

The fire is a tragedy if you're a fan of cultural and artistic wonders of the world, all that history can't be replaced much like the original wonders of the world which have been lost to time and elements. They can rebuild, but it won't be the same. And this might have been avoidable, as it was known for years that it was in dire need of repairs and such but was always put off.

I spend holidays in Paris were friends of the family (family were delighted to get rid of me) it was near to London, so they were around if necessary, then spend Summer's in Oregon.
I'm not religious (probably more spiritual) but when you're in somewhere that dates back over 855 years, for me anyway you can feel everything that went before you.

In context, as with all ancient structures, you have the original building, then you have everything that has been added
over 800 years. The Spire that fell was a 19th Century copy/restoration of a much older Spire that was destroyed in the French
revolution, (can you tell I love history & wanted to be a Civil Engineer) the roof that's been destroyed is a mixture of ancient timbers
    and a 19th/20th Century roof.

With ancient structures you have generations of fires/wars and disasters, Notre Dame's interior was badly damaged but are reported to have
survived as do the bell towers.

Notre Dame has its own fire service and while there was bravery among the fire fighters in rescuing the "treasures" from inside the Cathedral.
I'd ask the question why was the fire was able to take hold for so long? it was over a hour before hoses appeared? I've seen news coverage of Fire ladders
in the early evening that barely reached the level of the roof that was destroyed. Where was the fire plan for fire tenders could reach every corner of the cathedral?

Why did a fire that started at 7pm was not under control until Midnight?

A 1905 French law separates Church from State and unlike in London there is no charge to enter Notre-Dame, considering the state
of the Cathedral before the fire maybe this will change?

Thank you Trump for the very helpful advice to have planes water bomb a 850 year fragile building that was already in a bad state of repair
(and in the middle of a major restoration program) and had they taken his advice would probably had extinguished the fire and also with
the pressure of the water would of flatten the walls of the cathedral.

    [IMG][IMG]

I've spend hours in Notre Dame and hours looking at the Rose Window that dates back to 1260, while damaged that window apparently survives.

I just saw on BBC News on the York Minster 1988 fire.

You are so lucky to have sung there!!!

Then Gf & me was once asked to sit in the pews up on the High Altar in St.Pauls Catherdral for Choral-Evensong with the choir.
Visitors aren't normally allowed up on the High Altar, I loved it.

    Meanwhile

Now it has to be seen how much fire/water damage there is to the structure.

Glad they are, but why does the Calvary always ride to the rescue after the event?

The Cathedral was already in a very badly state of exterior (they had to strap in some cases Statues to the building to stop they're falling)
and interior repair, a lot of this from acid rain & pollution and previous 20th Century restorations that had used concrete instead of lime mortar,
the concrete stays in place, the structure moves/crumbles around it.

Sorry I went into geeky building restoration mode.

cause they don't know any better, and are only thinking about themselves.. even now they are doing it as it brings publicity to them and gives them sort of a "hero" status.

In this instance a rescue from Calvary would be most appropriate!

    ^^^^

“Oh it was gorgeousness and gorgeosity made flesh. The trombones crunched redgold under my bed, and behind my gulliver the trumpets three-wise silverflamed, and there by the door the timps rolling through my guts and out again crunched like candy thunder. Oh, it was wonder of wonders. And then, a bird of like rarest spun heavenmetal, or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now, came the violin solo above all the other strings, and those strings were like a cage of silk round my bed. Then flute and oboe bored, like worms of like platinum, into the thick thick toffee gold and silver. I was in such bliss, my brothers.”
