Rapidshare Sucks,Lets discuss

i dont get the point of this thread. ppl who use rapidshare.com already have a account with them and they are not going to stop (uploading) using it, even it sucks cuz they get free points for each download or they need to pay $$$/month. Which would you choose if you were in their shoes ? Support and encourage more non RS users. And Hopefully there would be a shift one day and until then you need to wait 2 hours for the next download and find dead RS links cause of the competition for downloads. lol Underline that statement plz.

 

Buddy!! that's the point, Rapidshare is so famous that even the non-RS users & novices turn to it when they want to upload something, so if we stop or reduce newcomers from uploading at rapidshare by spreading awareness among them, we can then atleast achieve some balance[or equality among upload engines] in uploading content on net & then there will be no waiting for 2hrs or dead RS links like you mentioned in your statement above!

 

Well, that's why I recommended www.divshare.com because it didnt have those time limitations or to pay to get an account, but as you all said, is everybody's choiche wether they use RS or not, I personally when uploading a file go to somewhere else, except megaupload.com, cuz they dont have enough servers to withhold downloads of non-paying users..

 

I can only partially agree to that point cuz most of the rapidshare links are posted by premium users. Only few non-premium users use rapidshare to upload these days cuz of the increased complaints and download restrictions.

 

Instead of complaining about waiting periods etc. you all could have started uploading ~10-20 files with a mixture of interesting content on rapidshare and post them here and/or elsewhere. That´s more or less all you need to maintain a premium-account.
A place like PHUN is good for ~100 downloads/points per file/day - if you´re lucky and get some replies to keep your thread "alive" for some days even more.
And if you keep your eyes open when uploading a file as a free-user you´ll find a way to work on a premium-account without paying.

7, 8 files at once? PAH! When downloading my films/series i get 16 of them babies going......24 for example. each episode is split into four parts, i can download 4 eppys at once while watching one i've already downloaded.

did you ever upload a file to RS?
if so you got a page after completing the upload (probably in english...) where you are asked if you want to start a "collectors account".

just do it, contribute and collect points on that account. reaching 10000 points will give you the chance to start a premium-account with the option to move all previous "collector"-uploads to the new account.
done.

I don't have great download speed, it's just my download management & 24hrs keep downloading scheme which keeps me at par with everybody!!

Seriously though, nobody seems to have mentioned this yet, but I think it's one of the best features of having a Rapidshare Account:

If I set a file downloading immediately (like people presumably do when they don't have an Account), it makes browsing the forum (and the internet in general) an absolute chore because everything grinds to a halt (even though I'm on Broadband). Even if you have a really fast connection, presumably there's a limit to the number of files you can have downloading at once and still manage to browse the internet...

So, because I have a Rapidshare Account, I've stored my Rapidshare login details in Internet Download Manager and then I cruise the forum, adding links to the download queue and then I set the queue going when I leave the office or go to bed (if I'm at home). When I get back to my computer the next day everything's downloaded. I've downloaded as many as 100 links a night this way. It works beautifully.

Hope that's of use to some folks.

p.s. now I'm starting to worry that I might actually download a bit too much porn.

There are other hosts out there perhaps not as rapidshit but still to be considered or just create ftp accounts I find still the best way to share files with no outside interference.

 

i haf a rapidshare account too. it's cheap. i dun use it juz to dl porn, but i haf to admit 60-70% of it is . I can get software and other decent movies on it too.

let's just once u get an account, u can use flashget or any download manager and split the file to dl it simulataneously on a unique ip address, so ie when u can only hit max of say 250kb/sec on 1 http link, with an account u can do 250kb/s x 5 with a download manager . so I download any average porn video here in less than 3mins .

 

That's not really the point. The same system that lets you keep your accounts for free also works against downloaders when someone complains about a file just because they want to collect points on it without competition. Hence why the average life of a rapidshare link is like 4 or 5 months at best. I've used megaupload links that were 2 years old. There are a gazillion dead rapidshare links out there. The whole purpose of sharing files should be sharing. Not so you can can collect points off temporary links waiting to be deleted by rapidshare.

 

I am a free user of rapidshare yet, & experiencing quiet a low speed from some last 2 weeks.Well.. I would like to know that

Notice Lotion, that alot of the people complaining are also people who do not share much......they complain because it's harder for them to leech vids.

 

I think there is one argument nobody thought about. RS has been around for many years. It's not only the most popular file-sharing site but the oldest too.
It is true that RS has millions of users, many many millions and most of them use it every day, premium or not, it doesn't matter. But also through the years they had the time to find a mature way for the service to work efficiently for everyone. I admit it has problems but then again nothing is ideal and it can never be. For example Megaupload enjoys far less subscribers and it is a burden to use, not to forget that non-windows users can never use it, I don't have windows so for me any megaupload link is just inaccessible. In a situation like that you wish there was just a time limit.

Anyhow, the truth is that RS has some pretty annoying miscomings, I admit it, but in my professional opinion (as a programmer and a system admin) it can be no other way. Have you ever thought the amount of hardware a service like RS needs? Who is going to maintain all that hardware? I mean you are shooting at the only file-hoster that can provide a huge amount of bandwidth per download to millions of simultaneous downloads.

What I want to say, is that if RS is shutdown and the millions of its users turn to any other file-hoster then the new hoster will eventually end up activating the same or even more restrictions.

Complaining about RS deleting links that are copyrighted is dumb, if you need an explanation as to why it's dumb then you are dumb too.

I get between 800k - 1mb download speeds from RS, I paid 7euro for a premium account 3 months ago and have gathered enough Premium Points to keep extending it. I can download all the movies, tv shows, games, porn, anything I want.

Too much of a cheap-ass to pay 7euro? Then upload some files with a free collector's account and use the points the generate to make yourself a free premium account.

If you are complaining it all comes down to this. You don't know enough shit to do it better.

What sucks about that?
