Just saw this on another forum

"I have decided to ban imagevenue as an image host for this site. They have recently signed up with a very aggressive advertiser that a hijacker and a Trojan virus in it's advertisements. The pop up that you will see tells you that "You have files on your computer that could wreck your marriage - use this cleaner program to clean up your computer - click here to download". BE SURE YOU DO NOT CLICK OK!! Make sure you watch what you are doing and you do not let this install. If it does install you will be spending the better part of an hour atleast to remove it. I am doing this for the health of all the members computers. We will be replacing imagevenue with Shareavenue as one of the allowed hosts. The hosts that we allow are Shareaveneue, Imageshack, and Uploadem. I know that many of you really like imagevenue as did we, it has been a good host for us for a long time. It is a shame they had to go this route with this advertiser. Any questions pm me or a mod. Thanks!"

Just thought you guys should know :D

I have noticed this as well... first time ever I have conisistently been getting pop-ups from imagevenue, and my pop-up blocker is so strong that it even halts pop-ups from trusted sites with signatures and certification to ask if I am 100% sure I want to read it.
Hell, it has been so long since I have not had a pop-up that I forgot they existed. But I have gotten at least ten now in the past three days from imagevenue alone.

I also mentioned the problem in another thread a while ago...
I also notice that it is that same advertisement about travel with a big airplane every single time. I'd like to be right on it to write a cease and desist letter to imagevenue's advertising to halt this invasive pop-up.

I am less than pleased with imagevenue right now.

I kinda took this quote out of context the second time I read it, thinking this would happen here.

    But...

IF this should ever come to pass here(notice the really big 'if') I would go to say none of those hosts would work. I have little experience with shareavenue, though we know that imageshack is bottom of the barrel here if not beneath it. Also, I think uploadem.com states that no offensive or pornographic images may be used, and when you read the context of the terms of service, it basically says "no nudity".

I know that brcook prefers keepmyfile.com(can register and track your files, file size limit is HUGE, zipped pic upload, other options that I have yet to discover, and Jayhoo runs Imagehaven.net, and sandino is known to use it as well(basically just like imagevenue, though it uploads just five at a time...)
also, I think I have converted a few into using freeimagehost.eu(has a LOT of options, moreso than imagevenue, like up to 60 individual pics at a time, zipped upload of pics, gallery function and more. plugging, sorry ;))

There are other options, though I truly hope that imagevenue resolves its agressive advertising campaign, otherwise if nobody will use it anymore because of the pop-up, spyware, then my IPLED program will go to waste. :(

    More thoughts on the subject?

freeimagehost is basically keepmyfile, the only REAL difference is freeimagehost will allow you to zip post up to 100 pics at a time, where KMF will only allow 50 at a time. The problem I've had wil FIH is the reliability (had issues with KMF too, but not as oftern).

The travel add on IV is a rollover add like yahoo or google use, and clicking the close blox is the opening of the potential trojan. just be careful not to roll over the banner, and if you do, don't click the "close" box, just click anywhere in the picture body to close the opened banner.

    I got the same trojan....."exploit".

This certainly isn't good news. IV is my preferred host, and that of many other users. I'd hate to see us have to ban it here.

its not imagevenues fault and the ad company has been fucked. i know they are tracing the bad ad FUCKER . usually it goes like this, company buys ad space from an ad company. then the buyer adds his own fucker code into the gif and everything gets fucked.
they ban these fucker advertisers as they find them

Most banners have some bad thing in it.
The best thing to do is (if you have not filtered the banners), close it fastly: When the banner opens (new ACTIVE window), click once on your keyboard "ALT" + "F4". If its not the ACTIVE window [active= when you click on the window, it get a full collor on the above menu, unactive/unselected is grey], THEN select it below on the work-status-bar (no need to see the window), do then as fast "ALT" + "F4", and the fuck should be fucked or stopped.
In some situations, it can be neccesary to block the internet connection with a firewall, like with ZoneAlarm, right click on ZoneAlarm icon, "stop all internet activity", or in the ZoneAlarm main menu 'shut of internet...' the stop button).

Reliability counts for something too. It's the only imagehost that has been with me since I opened my blog in January 2005, and few pictures are missing, even from early days. I'd hate to change to a host that may or may not disappear in two months...

Darn, IV is the only site I like, it has no commercials on their sites or anything, so I don't have to sort them out when using DTA. I guess I'll start using freeimagehost then ...oh no, that Isn't allowed, is it?

Btw. you should all get firefox and install the addon NoScript.

i mentioned this several weeks ago in a thread with britney spears pics when i got the same pop up. it's unbelievable that imagevenue has gone this route, but trust me, they know what their advertiser is doing. this isn't all imagevenue is doing, they're also redirecting traffic from pics to other websites, i have to click the back button constantly. i've switched to an imagehoster that uses interstitials which isn't ideal but it's a lot better then tricking visitors into letting their computer get hijacked or serving popups. i hope imagevenue straightens out their priorities because they will crash fast this way

by the way, i use firefox, and when i get this popup, which usually initially has the option to either click "ok" or click "cancel", i click on the 'x' to close it out. then, another popup will appear with "ok" as the only option, and i click the 'x' again. i don't know if internet explorer has the window 'x', but if anyone else comes across this just keep clicking the 'x', i find it's the easiest way to get out of it.

I have no banners or such problem I'm a long time user of Firefox and also use Opera.
Extensions such as Adblock,NoScript and Flashblock do most of the work for me My firewall Kerio also has pretty effective filters but I choose not to use them.
I have also have Avast a/v installed as welll as standard spyware cleaners to wipe out spyware and malaware or other remnants.
Banners, redirections, spoofing etc do not work:)

Popups are barely even a nuisance nowadays. The only ones that are affected are complete newbies to the net.

There is a program called GPLUploader from the people @ getpictureslist, you can upload more than 10 pics at a time to imagevenue. When installed you open it, select the host site, then drag and drop your pics into it. It generates the code ready to paste into the forum. It's great and it's here:
    Code:

Thanks for Ad Muncher, looks very good. but it is not freeware.

    Maybe a help for you:
For closing/filtering sripts, etc in internet Explorer, it isnt needed to install other software, it have several options for those [internet options]. But if you set it to "highest security" then some sites "pages", etc will not load or shown, also download anything to your pc wil be blocked.

But there's an easy option to set the only unwanted sites or pages in thouse category (not allowing sripts, activeX):
Open Internet Options, "Safety" tab, CLICK on "Websites With Restricted Acces", then click on "Websites..." button. In the opened menu, there's a field for "Add these website to this zone", fill in *.imagevenue.com Click on button "add", then ok. Don't forget, this zone needs to be setted to "highest security", it is standard selected on first install, but for safety check: At the "safety" tab, when you had selected "Websites With Restricted Acces", you will see "Addapt Level" and "standard Level". Click on the button "Addapt Level". In the new opened menu, below a "safety:" scroll menu, choose High, and click on the button "Renew options/set up"!!! answer Yes to the question, after that on ok. The Site imagevenue is fucked. Enjoy!! :)
    I use windows 98.
